Clachnacuddin 7-0 Rothes
Clach hit seven for the fourth time this season as they put struggling Rothes to the sword at Grant Street Park.
After last week\'s late disappointment in Brechin, the Lilies had an excellent opportunity to bounce back against a Rothes side who were sat bottom of the Highland League, without a league win since early November.
The hosts came out of the traps quickly, and went ahead after just three minutes, as the ball broke through to Troy Cooper, who made no mistake, slotting the ball between Sean McCarthy\'s legs and into the net.
Cooper grabbed a second with 20 minutes played, as his curling effort from the edge of the box evaded McCarthy. Clach were dominant, and it looked like a rout could be on the cards.
The visitors’ best chance came on the half hour mark, as former Lilywhite Ross Logan played Jake Thomson in, but Logan Ross was quick off his line to divert the ensuing effort out for a corner.
And for the most part it was one way traffic, as Clach spurned several opportunities to extend their lead, with Craig Lawrie\'s volley hitting the crossbar and Cooper\'s diving header sailing over. Cooper had the ball in the back of the net for a third time with three minutes of the first half to play, but the Assistant Referee flagged for offside.
On 53 minutes, the home side did manage to extend their lead, as Cooper turned provider, playing in Craig Lawrie to slip the ball beyond McCarthy. Things were about to go from bad to worse for Rothes’ number 1 as with an hour played, Cooper finally sealed his hat trick, as he curled the ball low into the bottom right.
And soon 4 became 5. James Anderson is never far from the scoresheet these days, and when Scott Davidson\'s pass reached him in the box, he smashed the ball home first time for his 20th goal of the season.
With ten to play, the hosts’ lead stretched further. Jack Mackay rose to meet a corner from the right, and when his first effort hit the woodwork and his second was cleared off the line, new man Greg Morrison was on hand to nod home. The former Rothes player grabbing his first for his new club and piling the misery on his former employers.
Clach had the chance to achieve an incredible 4th 7-0 victory of the season, and with five minutes to play Anderson obliged. A goal line scramble saw his first effort blocked, but he made no mistake with his second as he sealed his brace.
A Magnificent Seven for Clach as they look to close out the season in style, they travel to Grantown midweek to face lowly Strathspey Thistle.
